Branch Gymnastics Boys’ Teams Compete at

Regional Championships

Branch Gymnastics hosted the Region 5 Men’s Championships at the Kellogg Arena.  Gymnasts from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky took part in the competition in the hopes of qualifying to the National Championships in Oklahoma City.

In the Level 9 division Tyler Scharns finished in 12th place on Vault with an 8.0.  Daniel Lucas took home the 5th spot on Floor with a 9.25, finished in 4th place on Vault with an 8.2, and took 12th place on High Bar with an 8.3 and in the All Around with a 49.00.  With these strong performances Daniel and Tyler turned in All Around scores high enough to qualify to the National Championships.

In conjunction with the Men’s Regional Championship Branch Gymnastics also hosted the Jr. Boys Regional Invitational.  This competition gave the Level 4 and 5 boys a chance to compete against many other gymnasts from around the region. 

The Level 4 boys had an outstanding meet coming home with the team title and a number of strong individual finishes.  In the 6-7 year old age division Noah Rosenbaum finished 2nd on Vault with a 9.6 and 3rd on Parallel Bars with a 9.4 on his way to a 4th place finish in the All Around with a 55.15.  Hamilton Highhouse earned two silver medals on Floor (9.4) and Parallel Bars (9.8) and took the 5th spot in the All Around with a 54.60.  Drake Hobson Vaulted his way to a 5th place finish with a score of 9.35 while teammate Blake Ebner finished in 7th place with a 9.3.  In the 8 year old age division Austin Nemire came away with two 1st place finishes on Floor (9.4) and Parallel Bars (9.7). Austin also finished in 2nd place in the All Around with a 55.40.  Zachary Robinson turned in a 6th place finish on High Bar with a score of 8.8.  Masatoshi Goto had a strong Ring routine that earned him a 2nd place finish with a score of 9.5, and teammate Sam Stover earned the 10th spot with a 9.2.  In the 9 years old and up age division Jonathan Murphy led the way finishing 5th in the All Around with a 54.30 and 2nd on Rings and High Bar with a 9.4 and 9.2 respectively.  Matthew Leinwand turned in a 5th place finish on Floor with an 8.9.  Adam Cartwright finished in the 4th spot on Vault with a 9.3 and teammate Nicholas Heikkila took 4th place on Pommel Horse with a 9.1.

The Level 5 boys had many strong performances that earned them a 6th place finish in the team competition.  Tra Bryant led the way for the team finishing 3rd on Vault (9.3), Parallel Bars (9.65), High Bar (8.9), and in the All Around with a score of 53.95.  Brent Person added to that a 5th place finish on Pommel Horse with an 8.3 and 7th place in the All Around with a 51.20.  Austin Buck took the 9th spot on Vault with an 8.6 and earned 10th place on Parallel Bars with an 8.9.  Pieter Hofstra took home the 6th place on Floor with an 8.7 and teammate Kevin Greenman finished 5th place on Parallel Bars with a 9.0.
