Branch Gymnastics Performs Well for Home Crowd

Gymnastics hosted more than 1200 gymnasts at the annual Cereal City
Classic held at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, MI. All levels
of the Branch Gymnastics competitive team had the chance to perform
in front of the home crowd. “This meet was a great opportunity for
our athletes to perform in a fun environment with many of their
friends and family present,” says Head Team Coach Al Scharns.
The Level 4
boys turned in many shining performances that earned them a 2nd
place finish as a team. In the 6 year old age division Drake Hobson
took 1st place on Vault with a 9.3, as well as 2nd
place on Floor (8.5) and in the All Around (51.05). In the 7 year
old age division it was Noah Rosenbaum who led the way finishing 2nd
on Floor with an 8.85. Hamilton Highhouse turned in an excellent
Vault that earned him 5th place with a score of 9.35.
Also, performing well on Vault was Jordan Snyder with a score of 9.0
and Blake Ebner with an 8.8. In the 8 year old age division Austin
Nemire topped the field on four of the six events and in the All
Around. Austin finished in 1st place on Floor (9.1),
Rings (9.1), Vault (9.4), Parallel Bars (9.6) and All Around
(54.70). Masatoshi Goto came up big on Vault scoring a 9.4 tying
for 1st place with teammate Austin Nemire. Masatoshi
also earned the 2nd spot on Rings with an 8.9 and
finished in the 4th spot in the All Around with a 51.20.
Zachary Robinson finished in the 5th spot on Parallel
Bars with an 8.75 while teammate Sam Stover took 5th
place on Floor with an 8.0. In the 9 year old and up age division
Matthew Leinwand led the way for the Level 4 boys finishing in the
top spot on Rings with a 9.1 and 2nd place in the All
Around with a 53.35. Jonathan Murphy swung his way to a 1st
place finish on High Bar with a 9.1. Nicholas Heikkila was solid on
Parallel Bars (9.25) and Rings (8.85) finishing in the 3rd
spot on both events, and teammate Adam Cartwright turned in an 8.2
on floor for a 6th place finish.
The Level 5
boys came away with a 5th place finish as a team and a
number of great individual finishes. Tra Bryant, competing in the
11 year old and up age division came up big for the team finishing
in 1st place on Rings (8.8), Parallel Bars (9.25), and
High Bar (8.9). To go along with three first place finishes Tra
added a 2nd place in the All Around with a 51.30. Also
in the 11 year old and up age division was Brent Person who added a
3rd place finish on Rings with an 8.5. In the 10 year
old age division Pieter Hofstra earned 3rd place on Floor
(7.4) and Rings (8.2). Kevin Greenman, competing in the 9 year old
age division took home the 3rd spot in the All Around
with a 48.75 and on Floor with an 8.0. In the 6-8 year old age
division Austin Buck had a good day earning 5th place on
Pommel Horse (7.8) and 10th place on Vault with a 9.05.
Level 9 boys
Daniel Lucas and Tyler Scharns had an outstanding first day of
competition placing 3rd and 9th in the All
Around which qualified them to compete in All Around Finals. Tyler
competed well earning the 6th spot in the All Around, a 3rd
place finish on High Bar, and 2nd place on Vault. Daniel
finished the day in 1st place on Floor, Rings, Parallel
Bars, and came away as the All Around Champion. Level 10 Kyler
Sill’s competition was highlighted by a 3rd place finish
on Pommel Horse.
The Level 4
girls performed well and came home with a tremendous amount of
individual success. In the 6-7 year old age division Karli Crouch
came away with a 5th place finish in the All Around
(33.10) and tied for 2nd place on Vault with teammate
Soriah Curtis both scoring an 8.9. Soriah also finished in the 5th
spot on Beam with a 7.8. Fiona Daugherty took the 4th
spot on Vault and Bars with an 8.85 and an 8.05 respectively. Lexi
Butler tumbled her way to a 3rd place finish on Floor
(8.775) and earned the 3rd spot on Beam with an 8.05. Jordyn Jones performed well on Vault finishing in the 7th
spot with an 8.55 followed closely by teammate Cary Sterling in the
8th spot with an 8.5. In the 8 year old age division
Brianna Jones came away with a pair of 3rd place
finishes, one on Floor (9.1) and one in the All Around (34.75).
Lyndsey Rees had a powerful Vault that earned her a 2nd
place finish with a score of 9.05. Cassi Inman swung her way to 3rd
place on Bars with an 8.65 followed by Grace Williams in the 4th
spot with an 8.55, and Montana Rench was steady on Beam earning the
4th spot with an 8.5. Madison Bessonny took 5th
place on Vault with an 8.8 and Lindsey Lammlin took 6th
place on Bars with an 8.45. Natalie Palopoli was solid on Floor
earning an 8.95 and 5th place and Kristin Oxley finished
strong with an 8.4 on Vault. In the 9 year old age division
Shaliyah Watson took 5th place on Vault and Beam with a
9.0 on both events, and teammate Miranda Betz finished in 8th
place on Vault and Beam with an 8.85 and an 8.7 respectively.
Rachel McCollum and Erin Isola earned the 10th and 11th
spot on Floor with a 9.0 and an 8.9 respectively. Hannah Muscara
scored a 9.05 on Vault and landed in 4th place. Danielle
Root earned 10th place on Beam with an 8.5. On Vault, Hailey Jamann, Madison Peet, and Anna Mallett were strong turning in
scores of 8.4, 8.6, and 8.6. Competing in the 10 year old and up
age division, Amelia Bryant turned in a great Bar routine scoring a
9.025. Teammate Anna Porte was also solid on Bars with a score of
8.3. Teagan Perin and Allison Burke scored a strong 9.1 and 8.9 on
Vault, and Ashlyn Tkac added a nice Floor routine earning an 8.25.
The Level 5
girls finished in 12th place as a team with many standout
performances. In the 7-9 year old age division Teagan Young, Callie
McFellin, Erika DePierre finished in 3rd, 4th,
and 5th place in the All Around. Teagan added a 1st
place finish on Bars with a 9.35 and Erika placed 3rd on
Bars with a 9.25. Callie took 3rd place on Beam with an
8.775. Abby Smith earned the 7th spot on Floor with a
score of 9.05 and Laurel Wright finished with an 8.65 on Bars. In
the 10 year old age division Kimberly Barber was strong on Bars and
Floor placing 3rd on Bars (8.95) and 4th on
Floor (9.2). Marley Fazio was steady on Beam finishing in 7th
place with an 8.475 and April Inman added a 10th place
finish with an 8.1. Savannah Highhouse and Aimee Garcia tumbled
well for a score of 8.95 and 8.675 respectively. In the 11 year old
and up age division Morgan VanWinkle and Shelby Woodmansee went one,
two on Bars with a score of 9.325 and 9.25. Morgan added a 4th
place finish in the All Around with a 34.875. Melissa Knapick had
the right stuff on Floor finishing in 2nd place with a
9.225. Nicola Malloy had a strong showing on Bars earning an 8.45.
The Level 6
girls performed well for the home crowd. Hayley Hammerberg had
powerful routines on Vault with an 8.5 and on Floor with an 8.525.
Arielle Devenport added an 8.65 on Beam and an 8.5 on Vault. Erika
Whitehead helped the team with an 8.45 on Beam and an 8.95 on Vault.
The Level 7
girls placed 5th in the team competition. Their strong
team finish was highlighted by a number of top individual finishes.
In the 7-10 year old age division Emily Freybler and Marianne
Douglas finished in 3rd and 4th place in the
All Around with a 35.975 and a 35.60. Emily added to that a 1st
place finish on Beam (9.3) and a 2nd place finish on
Floor (9.025). Marianne took the top spot on Bars with a 9.3 and
took the 2nd spot on Vault with a 9.325. In the 11-12
year old age division Kennadie Gensch topped the field on Beam with
a score of 9.35 and added a 3rd place finish on Bars with
a 9.0. Maija Paldan and Julia Meeker were powerful on Vault earning
a 9.1 (6th place) and an 8.85 respectively. Jennifer
Shields performed well on Floor earning an 8.675 and Jasyman Hodge
turned in a solid 8.05 on Floor. In the 13 year old and up age
division Alex King found herself in 2nd place in the All
Around with a 36.10. Alex took 2nd place on Floor with a
9.25 and 3rd place on Bars with a 9.075. Anna Lucas
finished in the 3rd spot on Vault with a 9.4 and 2nd
on Bars with a 9.125 on her way to a 4th place finish in
the All Around with a 36.05. On Floor Ashton Lowe came through with
an 8.8 and Sterling Keiser finished with a solid 8.45 on Bars.
The level 8
girls had a good day finishing in 5th place as a team.
In the 8-11 year old age division Kayla DePierre took 3rd
place in on Vault (8.8), Bars (9.35), Floor (9.25), and in the All
Around with a score of 36.475. Manami Goto finished in 4th
place in the All Around with a 36.025 and added to that a 2nd
place finish on Bars with a big 9.45. In the 12-13 year old age
division Kaylie Hess scored a 9.15 on Vault and a 9.075 on Floor
earning her 6th place on both events.
Jennifer Root
led the way for the level 9 girls taking the top spot on Vault with
a 9.175 and Bars with a 9.15, and finishing 2nd on Floor
with an 8.925 and in the All Around with a 35.625. Sammy Veenkant
placed 4th on Vault (8.775) and in the All Around
(33.725), and tumbled her way to a 3rd place on Floor
with an 8.7. Kyleigh Sheldon added a 3rd place finish on
Beam with an 8.925.
Level 10
gymnast, Kaylee Woodmansee, captured 6th place on Vault
(9.175) and Floor (8.9) on her way to a 10th place finish
in the All Around with a 34.525.
The Prep
Optional Bronze team came away with a 2nd place team
finish. Abby Einhardt turned in a beautiful Floor routine that
landed her in 2nd place with a 9.35. Caroline
Bissonnette Vaulted her way to 2nd place with a score of
8.7, and Ashley Phelps turned in a nice 8.75 on Floor. Ashley
Elliston was on top of the awards stand on Floor with an outstanding
9.4 and placed 3rd on Bars with an 8.9.
The Prep
Optional Silver team came home in 1st place leading the
field of competition by more than three points. Natalie Briggs,
Madeline Sweeney, and Cheyenne Katz each came home with a 1st
place finish. Natalie won the Floor competition with a 9.5,
Madeline was at the top of the field on Vault with an 8.25, Cheyenne
was great on Beam winning with a 9.4. Darby Wagner took 4th
place on Bars (8.75), 3rd place on Beam (9.3), and 2nd
place on Floor with a big 9.45 on her way to tying with teammate
Natalie for 2nd place in the All Around with a 35.40.
Hannah Smith was steady on Beam earning an 8.4 and performed well on
Floor finishing with a 9.05.
The Prep
Optional Gold team came away with a 3rd place finish in
the team competition. Carli Murav led the way finishing 2nd
in the All Around with a 35.50 and was steady as a rock on Beam
earning a huge 9.5 and 1st place. Rachel Lord swung her
way to a very nice 9.0 on Bars. Nicole Gilbert claimed the top spot
on Floor with an outstanding score of 9.55.
