Branch Gymnastics Boys Compete at
16th Annual Jason Whitfield Invitational

The Branch Gymnastics boys teams traveled to Ann Arbor, MI to compete at the 16th annual Jason Whitfield Invitational held at Cliff Keen Arena.  The competition hosted gymnasts from Michigan and surrounding states, and provided a great field of competitors. 

The Level 4 boys’ team had many outstanding performances with athletes finishing in the top five in every age division.  In the 6 year old age division it was Drake Hobson who claimed a 2nd place finish in the All Around with a 52.00.  Drake also claimed 1st place on Rings with an 8.9 and Parallel Bars with a 9.0.  In the 7 year old age division Hamilton Highhouse, finishing 3rd in the All Around, was on top of the awards stand with a 9.3 on Rings.  Hamilton finished in the 2nd spot on Parallel Bars and Floor with a 9.45 and a 9.3.  Blake Ebner took home a 5th place finish on Parallel Bars with an 8.75, while Noah Rosenbaum took 6th place in the All Around with a 51.70.  In the 8 year old age division Austin Nemire earned a 1st place finish on Parallel Bars and High Bar with a 9.1 and an 8.85 respectively.  With strong performances on the other events Austin finished runner up in the All Around with a 53.05.  Taking the 4th spot in the All Around with a 51.95 was Zack Robinson.  Zack turned in a top notch performance on Floor (9.0) that was good enough for 3rd place.  Masatoshi Goto swung his way to a 2nd place finish on High Bar with a score of 8.6.  In the 9 year old and up age division it was Jonathan Murphy who cracked the top five in the All Around finishing 5th with a score of 52.30 and finished in 2nd place on High Bar with a 9.0.  Nicholas Heikkila and Matthew Leinwand finished 3rd and 4th on Floor with an 8.85 and an 8.8.  Matthew claimed the 3rd place medal on Parallel Bars with a 9.0.  Rounding out the day for the Level 4 boys was Adam Cartwright taking the top spot on Floor with an impressive 9.2 and 2nd on Parallel Bars with a 9.1.  

The Level 5 boys’ team put on a strong showing for their fans coming home with some outstanding awards.  In the 6-8 year old age division Austin Buck Vaulted his was to a 4th place finish with 9.3.  In the 9-10 year old age division Pieter Hofstra took 3rd place on Pommel Horse with an 8.0.  Teammate Kevin Greenman took the 5th spot on Floor with an 8.7.  In the 11 year old and up age division Tra Bryant had an outstanding day finishing 3rd in the All Around with a 52.10.  To go along with his 3rd place finish in the All Around Tra finished 1st on Floor and 4th on Parallel Bars with a 9.2 on both events.  Brent Person turned in two great performances on Vault (9.3) and Parallel Bars (9.4) that earned him 2nd place on both events.

Daniel Lucas, Level 9, and Kyler Sill, Level 10, performed well took home a number of awards.  Daniel finished in 6th place on Rings and took the 4th spot on Floor and High Bar.  Kyler finished in 10th place on Pommel Horse and in the All Around, and took the 9th spot on Rings and Vault.
