Branch Gymnastics Prep Optional and Level 7 teams Shine at State
Meet
The Branch
Gymnastics Prep Optional and Level 7 teams traveled to Lansing to
compete in the State Championships hosted by Twistars USA
Gymnastics. The State competition was a wonderful success with many
athletes posting personal best scores for the year.
Rachel Lord and
Nicole Gilbert, competing in the Prep Optional Gold division,
started off the weekend with a bang. Nicole finished in the 7th
spot on Vault with an 8.675, 4th on Beam with a solid
9.1, and turned in a 9th place finish in the All Around
with a 34.925. Rachel Vaulted well enough for 3rd place
with an 8.75, and captured the gold medal on Floor with a 9.3 on her
way to a 3rd place finish in the All Around with a
35.675.
The Prep
Optional Silver took home a 6th place finish as a team.
Natalie Briggs found herself on top of the awards stand twice,
finishing in 1st place on Vault with an 8.825 and Floor
with a 9.15. Natalie also took home the silver medal in the All
Around with a 36.05. Darby Wagner finished in 5th place
on Vault with an 8.7, 6th place in the All Around with a
35.275, and tied with teammate Hannah Smith for 6th place
on Floor with an 8.775. Hannah also turned in a 6th
place finish on Vault with an 8.65.
In the Prep
Optional Bronze division Caroline Bissonnette Vaulted her way to a 5th
place finish with an 8.75 and tied with teammate Ashley Elliston on
Bars with an 8.9. Ashley finished in the top spot on Vault with a
9.1 and placed 4th in the All Around with a 35.85.
The Level 7 team
was able to crack the top ten as a team, finishing 9th in
a very strong field of competition. Anna Lucas led the way for the
team, claiming the All Around title in the Senior C age division
with a score of 37.80. Along with a first place finish in the All
Around Anna finished in the top spot on Bars with a 9.625 and 2nd
on Vault with a 9.55. Competing in the Junior A division, Marianne
Douglas turned in a 4th place finish on Floor (9.425) and
9th place in the All Around with a 37.425. Emily
Freybler (Junior B age division) earned herself the 2nd
spot on Beam with a solid 9.625 and finished 7th in the
All Around with a 37.125. In the Junior E age division Kennadie
Gensch took 4th place on Bars with a 9.4 and finished in
9th place in the All Around (37.00) while teammate Maija
Paldan finished in 8th place in the All Around with a
37.05. Alex King had a strong meet finishing in 5th
place on Beam (9.35), 4th on Bars (9.475), 3rd
on Floor (9.475), and 5th in the All Around with a
37.40. Also turning in strong performances for Branch Gymnastics
were Ashton Lowe on Floor with a 9.1, Jasyman Hodge on Beam with a
9.35, and Julia Meeker on Vault with a 9.125.
