Branch Gymnastics Level 7 Team Captures Gold
The Branch Gymnastics optional teams traveled to
Chicago
to compete in the St. Valentines Day Classic hosted by The
Gymnastics Spot. Despite
the extremely cold weather outside the girls turned up the heat in
the gym turning in one amazing performance after another.
The Level 7 team came home with a 1st place finish
as a team, along many outstanding individual finishes.
The Level 8, 9, and 10 teams, although not fielding enough
gymnasts to participate in the team competition due to some minor
injuries, came away with some top notch individual finishes.
To go along with their 1st place finish as a team Level 7
Marianne Douglas took 1st place on Vault (9-11 year old
age division) with a score of 8.9, 2nd place on Bars with
a 9.35, 3rd place on Beam with an 8.75, and 1st
place on floor with an 8.975 on her way to a 1st place
finish in the All Around with a score of 35.975.
Julia Meeker took the 4th spot in the All Around
(34.90) and Vault (8.675), and earned the 3rd spot on
Bars with a 9.05. Emily
Freybler added to that a 3rd place finish on Vault with
an 8.75 and a solid 8.95 on Beam for 2nd place.
In the 13 year old age division Alex King and Ashton Lowe
finished in 2nd and 3rd in the All Around with
a 35.425 and a 34.475 respectively.
Alex finished 2nd on Vault with a 9.0, 3rd
on Bars with a 9.225, and 3rd on Beam with an 8.4, while
Ashton added a 2nd place finish on Floor with a 9.225.
Anna Lucas turned in some big routines earning the top spot
on Vault with a 9.2, 2nd place on Bars with a 9.25, and 3rd
place on Floor with a 9.225.
In the 12 year old age division in was Maija Paldan who led
the way finishing in 1st place on Vault with a 9.1 and 1st
place on Floor with an outstanding 9.5.
Kennadie Gensch turned in a strong Beam routine earning a 9.2
and a 4th place finish.
Kennadie also finished in the 4th spot in the All
Around with a 36.25.
Jennifer Shields added an impressive 9.275 on Beam that was good
enough for 2nd place.
Nancy Ford tumbled her way to a 4th place finish
on Floor with a 9.125.
Level 8 gymnasts, Manami Goto and Kaylie Hess, finished in 1st
and 2nd place in the All Around with a score of 36.00 and
35.825. Manami had an
incredible day earning 1st place on Bars (9.3), Beam
(9.1) and Floor (9.25) to go along with her 1st place in
the All Around. Kaylie
added to her 2nd place All Around finish, 3rd
place on Vault (8.65), 1st place on Bars (8.8), Beam
(9.275), and 2nd place on Floor (9.15).
Level 9 gymnast, Jennifer Root, captured 1st place on
Vault with an 8.925, 3rd place on Bars (8.425), Beam
(8.35), and Floor (8.95), and finished in 2nd place in
the All Around with a 34.65.
Teammate Sammy Veenkant added a 4th place finish
on Beam with an 8.6.
Kaylee Woodmansee, Level 10, finished 3rd in
the All Around with a 33.625 which was highlighted by a 2nd
place finish on Bars (8.275) and a 1st place finish on
Vault with a (9.05).
