Branch Gymnastics Level 5 and 6 Teams Travel to Canton

    The Branch Gymnastics Level 5 and 6 teams traveled to Canton, Michigan to compete in the Splitz Splash State Qualifier hosted by Splitz Gymnastics.  The State Qualifier competition adds a little more pressure to the athletes because they know that have to hit a certain score to qualify to the State competition, which is the highest level of competition for these athletes.  These gymnasts handled the added pressure with grace turning in top notch scores and performances throughout the competition, and qualifying 15 athletes to the State competition. 

    The Level 5 team had an outstanding day finishing in 2nd place as a team with a score of 108.10.  Leading the way for Branch Gymnastics was Shelby Woodmansee who claimed 6th place in the All Around with a score of 35.225.  Morgan VanWinkle and Shelby posted outstanding scores on Bars with a 9.55 and 9.45 respectively.  Accalia McFellin turned in an impressive 9.2 on Floor.  Teagan Young was steady on Beam with a 9.05.  Teagan also cracked the top 10 in the All Around with a 35.10.  Melissa Knapick was strong on Beam finishing in with an 8.9.  Kimberly Barber swung her way to a solid 8.85 on Bars and Savannah Highhouse tumbled her way to an 8.95 on Floor.

    The Level 6 team turned in very strong individual performances.  In the 9-10 year old age division Hailey Hammerberg finished with an 8.875 on Floor and was confident on Beam earning a 9.0.  In the 11-12 year old age division Arielle Devenport danced her way to an 8.7 on Floor and an 8.9 on Beam.  Teammate Erika Whitehead was great on Floor earning a 9.175.
